Jenna Ortega’s Corseted Andreas Kronthaler Gown in Paris
At the end of July 2025, Jenna Ortega opened the Paris leg of her Wednesday Season 2 press tour in a gown from the Fall/Winter 2025 collection of Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood. A sheer corset laced over chocolate-brown ruffles, worn with bleached eyebrows, it set a gothic but decidedly grown-up tone for the promotional run.

The event
The occasion was the opening of Le Beach Club de Mercredi (“Wednesday’s Beach Club”), a Netflix pop-up at Port de Solférino on the banks of the Seine, on July 31, according to The Zoe Report and Parade. The show’s director and executive producer Tim Burton also attended. The first part of Season 2 arrived on Netflix in early August.
The gown
The dress came straight from Kronthaler’s Fall/Winter 2025 ready-to-wear runway. The Zoe Report described it as a deconstructed gown that layered the label’s signature corsetry over a dress, producing a swashbuckling, pirate-like silhouette through cuffed sleeves, ruffles and a slashed skirt. Vogue Philippines noted a ruffled neckline plunging below the navel, a sheer cream boned corset cinching the waist and a high front slit.
What makes it work is the contrast between the two layers. The corset is transparent, so its boning reads almost like drawn lines over the soft brown fabric beneath, while the ruffles and slashes keep the dress from feeling stiff. Brown instead of black was also a considered choice: it nods to Wednesday Addams’s palette without tipping into costume.
How it was styled
Ortega’s stylist, Enrique Melendez, who dressed her for the whole press tour, cinched the look with a dark leather belt at the waist. The Zoe Report noted that he swapped out the cognac belt seen on the runway for a studded black one. The main piece of jewelry was a large cross pendant by Bond Eye.
Her hair was worn long and loose in soft waves, which Parade called her darkest and longest style in years, and her eyebrows were bleached, a detail that dominated coverage of the appearance. Vogue Philippines reported that the brows had been lightened for another project, and she kept them through several subsequent tour looks.

Why a corset from this house matters
Vivienne Westwood did more than almost any designer to bring the corset out from under clothing. From the late 1980s she reworked historical corsetry as outerwear, cutting it with stretch so it could be worn as a top rather than an undergarment, and it became one of the most recognizable signatures of the label. Andreas Kronthaler, her husband and longtime design partner, has led the creative direction since her death in December 2022, and his collections continue to lean on that archive: historical tailoring, draping and structure pulled slightly off-kilter.
That history is part of why the look felt right for Ortega. Wednesday trades on gothic imagery, and a Westwood corset brings a century-spanning, slightly rebellious reference to it rather than a literal one.
Taking the idea off the red carpet
The appeal of a corset worn over clothes is that it shapes without needing to be tight. For daywear, a sheer or mesh corset belt over a loose blouse or slip dress borrows the same idea with far less commitment. Keep the layer underneath soft and fluid, so the structure has something to contrast with, and let one strong piece of jewelry do the rest, as Ortega did with her cross pendant.
