The Quiet Wardrobe – Pieces That Speak for Themselves

Wardrobe

The most stylish women we know rarely wear the loudest things in the room. Their coats are cut cleanly, their shoes have been broken in over years, and the bags on their shoulders catch your eye for a reason you cannot place at first. The composition reads as considered, and the considered part is doing all the work. We have spent a long time thinking about how those women dress, and a fair amount of that thinking has gone into how we make our high-end luxury designer handbags.

A minimal wardrobe is different to a quiet wardrobe. It is no closet of ten beige things in three forms and is not the lack of color or form or coziness. Thimble silence may be made up of a saturated red dress, a printed silk scarf, a chartreuse green hand-woven bag. What is so quiet is that nothing about it is seeking attention in the far end of the room. The works are on a volume of which the woman in them is in charge and the effect presents itself through the composition and not of either side of a single piece dilapidating itself too excitedly.

What Makes A Piece Quiet

The most illustrious feature of a silent composition is, that it makes rather than sells its way. A coat that is both hand stitched in seams looks different to a coat that is the same shape and is produced in a factory within three days. A bag seuded by the use of cut pieces of the leather will be carried differently when thus stampeded out of a sheet, and the difference can of course be detected even at the opposite end of a room, in the manner the bag will maintain itself on the body, or be lying on a chair next it. This is no logos or recognition. It is of the eye to realize the distinction between a thing made with care, and that thrown up, as it were, and to know what that thing is when it is reading.

The other similarity of the quiet pieces is that they are well aged. The lady who purchased them and the craftsman who created them had in mind when they were selected that they would be inhabited. The leather softens. The dye deepens. The hardware forms a coat of dirt. None of this can be regarded as degradation. The thing that becomes more itself, as you use it, is the test of an object you introduce into your everyday life and which you have to remain with.

Where To Begin

Females possess at least some quiet pieces that they do not even consider it a part of the quiet type. The pair of boots which have worn four winters, and which are in better condition than at first. The wool coat of which you can never tell. The silk shirt that your mother wore your before. Putting a quiet wardrobe together is not about buying new items; it is more observational than that: what of the items you have that are doing the work means more, and this implies being more conscious of which items are not doing the work, and why.

The question to consider when it comes to bringing something new in then is whether you can imagine taking it on board or putting it on five years on that that you will wear it and feel current. Not due to the fact that the design has been re-thought in following a trend, but simply because the initial design was powerful enough that it does not need revision. We also ask ourselves this about all that we produce in our atelier, and this is why some of our handbags in its ten years have remained in production with this one line of the pattern remaining unaltered. An item that must be reconsidered semi-annually was not meant to be a low key garment at all.

The Role Of The Handbag

The handbag is the simplest wardrobe item to get wrong, since it is the most frequently worn item of the wardrobe due to non-longevity. Bags are purchased to commemorate an event, to celebrate something, to enroll an alternate season. Also, it is the most marketed piece and what this means is that when a woman goes shopping a bag, they are doing it in a noisier room as compared to when a woman goes shopping at nearly any other item.

A bag suit will make a quiet wardrobe and fits one that will not make noise on the body as well as in the composition. This is well done with hand-woven leather since the touch looks purposeful far away and handwoven near, without ever having to proclaim a cost at all. This is good when a shape is considered since it can conflict with several silhouettes as opposed to locking the woman to one style of dressing. And a color that was good because of its undertone and not because it makes an impression is good because that way it does not have to be the star of the day in the wardrobe but can coexist with everything.

The object in the collection that best fulfills those standards is the work, the Charlotte. We have been sewing it ten years in the same hand-woven calfskin nappa with the same interlaced work, the same suede lining with the same hammered antique brass hardware. The design was not rereadied during that period since the design was right the first time. The Charlotte we sold the first season has been the same Charlotte we sell to-day, and the ladies who have been having one all through the years talk of it as you speak of a coat that has been as long with you as your shoulders. This is the trial that a bag belonging to a quiet wardrobe must undergo and the Charlotte is the first one that we would turn to.

An example of a good handbag that fits a quiet wardrobe will be the type of handbag that will be carried by a woman on a Tuesday morning to a meeting, on a Saturday afternoon to a museum and on a Wednesday evening to an unexpected dinner with no prior bookings. It makes no adaptation on the occasion. The event revolves about it.

Dressing for yourself first

The most silent wardrobes are in the hands of women who have passed switching the effort to dress-to-the-room and dress-to-themselves. Not that they have abandoned style but because they have realised that the noise had never been a source of style. It was making itself, out of the decisions they made, at a time no one was looking, and out of the fragments their decisions delivered at home.

A good start point should be your handbag in case you are beginning to assemble a wardrobe similar to this one. It will be the article you will keep with you most days, be the one whose fingers you will touch, and the one whose making will tell you most of whether the rest of the wardrobe is going where you desire. We wish you to go and have one of our own when you are a bit ready.
