Summer Holiday Packing List: What You Shouldn’t Forget
We have put together a packing list for your summer holiday so that you can travel sustainably and don’t forget anything for your holiday. Especially not your phone or laptop to play the new Betlabel.
Are you also looking forward to your summer holiday for weeks, but trying to put off the annoying packing until the last minute?
However, last-minute packing can pose one or two problems. If you pack at the last minute, you don’t have time to think through your luggage properly. You often end up taking too many things with you that you don’t need. However, heavy luggage is not only annoying for you, but also causes additional fuel consumption for any means of transport. This, in turn, leads to higher CO2 emissions.
What’s more, without a packing list, you’re much more likely to forget something for your summer holiday. Although you can often buy things at your holiday destination, it is questionable whether you will find sustainable products and use them at all after your trip home.
How to create your summer packing list
Packing lists help you pack for your summer holiday. It is ideal if you have already created a packing list a few days before you leave on your summer holiday. This way, you can make sure that you don’t take anything unnecessary with you or forget anything when packing. You can then buy any missing items in good time.
You can create your summer holiday packing list either on the back of a piece of paper you’ve already used, in a notebook/calendar, or digitally. Keep the checklist or save it so that you can use it for future summer holidays.
When creating your packing list, consider the facilities in your accommodation and the weather forecast for the duration of your trip. Try to limit yourself to the essentials. Once you have finalised the list, you can go through it again and shorten it.
Documents and electronic devices on the packing list
Your passport should be on your packing list for your summer holiday. To ensure that your holiday runs smoothly, you need to have the most important documents ready for departure. You should check in advance whether you have WiFi at your holiday destination or whether you need to print out the documents. You should remember the following documents:
- Passport/ID card and driving licence
- Health insurance card and proof of international insurance
- Ticket for train, flight, or boat
- Documents required for car hire or accommodation
You will also need:
- Cash or foreign currency and a credit card
- Power socket adapter, if required
- Camera and mobile phone, as well as appropriate chargers
Don’t forget suitable clothing
Straw hats on a summer holiday belong on the packing list. We often tend to pack far too much clothing. So think about how many tops and bottoms you need for your summer holiday. Your packing list for your summer holiday may, of course, vary from ours depending on your holiday destination and the activities you have planned. Here is some inspiration:
- Bikini or swimming trunks
- Beachwear that is also appropriate in restaurants
- A straw hat or cap to protect you from the midday sun
- Simple tops that can be combined well
- Comfortable trousers (short and long)
- Underwear, pyjamas, and socks
- flip-flops for the beach, pool, or as slippers
- Sturdy shoes for excursions or restaurant visits
- A warm jacket to protect against wind and rain
- a handbag or rucksack for day trips
Hygiene for your summer holiday
Hygiene products should not be missing from your holiday packing list. It makes sense to go through your daily hygiene routine in your head. That way, you won’t forget any important bathroom products:
- Bamboo toothbrush (for example, in the avocado store) and toothpaste. You can find microplastic-free products in our best list below.
- Natural soap for skin and hair. This prevents shampoos or shower gels from leaking in your bag and also reduces packaging waste.
- Brush or comb your hair, for long hair, also hair ties, hair towels, or clips.
- Cosmetics and deodorant
- Coconut oil to remove make-up and as moisturising skin care.
- Sun protection – there are big differences between products here. So pay attention to the ingredients of the sun cream when buying. You can find our list of the best organic sunscreens below.
- Shaver
- Cotton buds, cotton pads, and make-up remover wipes are already available as sustainable products in drugstores.
- Tweezers and nail file
- Possibly contact lens solution and storage, glasses cas,e and cleaning cloths
- Feminine hygiene products such as tampons or menstrual cups
- contraceptives
