Stylist Michaela Dosamantes shares her favorite March styles, tips on layering, and talks all things tonal dressing.
The past few years have seen a shift in how many women dress daily. “On and off the runway, there’s been a distinct trend towards simplicity,” says stylist Michaela Dosmantes. Leading the way is one of her favorites—tonal dressing. Be it a matching set or items in the same color family, here are some pieces that hit the mark.

The Art of Layering
French women do it so well. For example, there’s the classic sweater draped casually over the shoulders or a tee under a V-neck sweater. However, Michaela encourages all her clients to think outside the box.

Play With Proportion
Michaela loves the wider leg and mid-thigh length of AGOLDE's Stella Denim Shorts. "Pair them with an oversized button-up shirt for a more conservative look, or be playful and add a crop top, such as the Lily Cardigan Sweater, and sneakers. Either way, choose something in a similar colorway that balances it out.

Consider the Unexpected
"Most people wouldn’t think of layering a more summery jumpsuit," says Michaela. "But adding a tee or blouse underneath gives it a whole new silhouette and feel."

Switch up Sizing
Give a utility style some interest and size up. According to Michaela, the Genevieve Jacket or Rylee Jacket over a top or sweater would both be ideal choices. You could also belt it and pair it with the Wide-Leg Utility Trouser or Lina Skirt for a suit alternative.
