How to Build a Bikini Outfit That Works Beyond the Beach

Bikini

A bikini does not need to be a stand-alone swimwear.

When worn over the appropriate layers, it may form the foundation of an outfit to a pool party, a walk to the beach, a lunch at a resort, a boat ride or an afternoon loitering close to the shore. The helpful strategy is not to include as many accessories as possible. It will be to select a limited number of items which match the structure, color, and the target environment of the bikini.

The outcome must be comfortable even when the weather is hot, the swimsuit is slightly wet or when the day transitions between water and dry land.

Start With Where You Are Going

What should the outfit do before deciding on a cover-up or pair of shoes.

On a beach day, there can be light layers and little structure due to a quiet day. A restaurant or hotel will have a greater coverage need. The wind and the powerful sun might demand a more casual appearance in a boat adventure, and a more glamorous appearance in a pool party.

A simple way to plan is to divide beach outfits into four settings:

  • swimming and sporty time on the beach;
  • poolside lounging;
  • resort/ beachfront restaurant;
  • strolling, shopping, or sightseeing along the coast.

The bikini can be the same but the layers around it will have to be different.

When it comes to swimming, don’t hesitate to give more attention to those pieces that may be taken off within a short period and that may be stored without holding a large amount of water. When eating or shopping, you can better wear a layer long enough to cover enough of your body to feel as though it is clothing and not a temporary replacement of a towel.

Let the Bikini Top Set the Direction

There are various types of bikini tops, which support various outfits. BERLOOK has now been selling bikinis in individual tops and bottoms, wrap skirts, shirts, crochet, as well as beach dresses.

A Berlook swimsuit can therefore be styled according to the setting rather than treated as a single-use beach item.

Triangle and halter tops

Triangle and halster tops are of a light, time-honored beach shape. They wear under the big shirts, crochet tops, and wrap dresses.

Since they tend to wear skinny ties, they should not use necklaces or bags with any straps which might get stuck around the neck or back. The open linen shirt makes the look casual and does not make the top look competitive.

Bralette and cross-back tops

The tops of bralettes are more of a crop-top. When traveling outside the beach, they can be worn with wide-leg trousers, high-waisted shorts or a wrap dress.

Cross-back straps are aesthetically stronger, thus they tend to require fewer in terms of accessories. Allow the strap detail to stand out rather than bury it in a bunch of necklaces or an intricate top layer.

Underwire bikini tops

A bikini top that has an underwire tends to have a more rigid shape. It could be worn under a loose button-down, an unlined blazer or a high-waisted dress in a resort style.

Nevertheless, bathing suits are still meant to be worn in the water. A bikini top which is wet under a tight jacket or fabric that does not breathe is not comfortable to wear over a long time. Allow it to dry or sprinkle loosely.

Choose the Bottom for Both Fit and Styling

Depending on the coverage and rise of a bikini bottom, some cover-ups will fit more naturally than the rest.

A high-waisted bottom is easy to wear with cropped shirts, short cardigans and open-front cover-ups since the waistline already offers a distinct visual line.

Long shirts, sarongs and drawstring pants can go with a natural- or low-waisted bottom. These layers do not create multiple waistbands at the same level.

Cheeky or Brazilian bottoms may be worn over a semi-sheer dress or longer shirt when it is more beneficial to be covered up out of the pool. Bottoms fully covered could be a great alternative to wear under loose shorts or beach trousers since they are less likely to expose visible edges as compared to tie-side designs.

Do not think that a high waist will always fully cover the rear. The description of various parts of the cut is provided by waist height and back coverage.

Use One of Three Color Strategies

Bikini

A beach outfit is not supposed to have all the pieces matching in order to be considered a co-ordinated outfit. There are three easy methods that encompass the majority of combinations.

1. Tonal dressing

Select a cover-up in the same family of color with the bikini.

Dark green bikini can be combined with an olive shirt, or a pale sage jacket. A brown bikini would suit sand, cream or warm beige.

The shades are not required to be the same. The slight variation in shade can easily render the outfit more conscious.

2. Neutral layering

White, black, navy, tan and natural linen colors are used with numerous prints and vivid colors.

When there is already floral and animal, geometric or multi color detail on the bikini, a neutral cover-up is particularly handy. It offers the print space rather than introducing another competing print.

3. One-color repetition

Select one of the colors of a printed bikini and repeat it in one accessory or layer.

As an example, a blue detail could be reflected in a bag or shirt. Warm red or orange accent may be found in sandals or wrap skirt.

It is normally sufficient to repeat a single color. Pairing the hat, bag, shoe, jewelry, and cover-up to the identical print can be too premeditated.

Select the Cover-Up by Function

The cover-up needs not necessarily to be the most useful.

Oversized shirt

One of the most versatile is a loose cotton or linen-blend shirt. It may be worn loose, half-buttoned, tied at the waist or as a light shoulder garment.

It is applicable with the beach, casual lunch, or stroll in the resort.

Sarong or wrap skirt

A sarong is small and can be fitted. It is able to cover the hip and thigh swiftly without concealing the bikini top.

The wrap is better worn longer, when it comes to a beachfront restaurant or evening walk. See that the overlap is fast when sitting or walking in the wind.

Crochet or mesh layer

The bikini can be made visible using crochet and mesh. They serve best as styling overlay, rather than complete coverage or real sun protection.

They are ideal in pool parties and transitions between short resorts but might be unfair to the dress codes of all restaurants and hotel premises.

Beach dress or kaftan

A loose dress is a more rounded outfit that requires a minimum amount of effort. It comes in handy where day involves lunch, shopping or transportation outside the water.

Build a Small Beachwear Capsule

A useful beach wardrobe does not need a separate outfit for every day.

For a short trip, consider packing:

  • two bikini tops;
  • two bikini bottoms;
  • one oversized shirt;
  • one adjustable sarong;
  • one dress or pair of loose trousers;
  • one practical pair of sandals;
  • one hat and one bag.

The bikini separates of similar color enable four possible combinations of the swim out of two tops and two bottoms. With the shirt, sarong, and trousers, one can then make a few different outfits without the need to carry too much luggage.

This will also lessen the possibility of stuffing items that fit only one specific swimsuit.

Final Thought

The initial step towards a strong bikini outfit is a swimsuit that fits and does not slip out of place. All that will be added after that must contribute to the activity, setting, and the degree of coverage that you would like to have.

The upper layers should be guided using the neckline and straps of the bikini. Select a cover-up to play its role. Royalty repeat one or two colors, rather than relate to every detail. Make sun protection practical and accessories minimal.

The beach style that is the most versatile is not the one with the highest amount of pieces. It is the one that slips readily out of water to the remainder of the day.
